Boot Steamdeck into desktop mode
By default the SteamDeck boots into game mode. Game mode also called big picture mode is a view of the Steam client optimized for handheld and TV screens. Then there is the desktop mode. It is a full KDE environment. You can actually use the SteamDeck as a desktop computer. But I would not recommend it. As many other SteamDeck users I wanted it boot directly into desktop mode.
For some reason there is not option in the settings of the SteamDeck. When I tried to research this issue I did not find any good guides. In the end the solution was very simple. You only have to run this command on the terminal:
/usr/bin/steamos-session-select plasma-wayland-persistent
Then restart the SteamDeck as see if it works.
