Game mode also called big picture mode is a view of the Steam client optimized for handheld and TV screens. Then there is the desktop mode. It is a full KDE environment. You can actually use the SteamDeck as a desktop computer. But I would not recommend it. As many other SteamDeck users I wanted it boot directly into desktop mode.</p> <p>For some reason there is not option in the settings of the SteamDeck. When I tried to research this issue I did not find any good guides. In the end the solution was very simple.
