I visited China from the beginning of last december until christmas. My backpack was filled with prejudice and the expectation of having a hard time travelling there. The reality looked quite different. China was a blast! Vibrant, lively, fascinating, contradictory and quite the opposite from the european life style. Swallowed in Beijing and spit out in Hong Kong I enjoyed China all over. Definitely not the last I have been there. Again my favorite pictures:

An unusual sight from the great wall of China. No pollution, no anything.

Saw this origami flower on a bus ride.

You'll find such installations on the Tiananmen square. China has installed over 20 million AI-equipped street cameras.

It is hard to find authentic historic buildings in China. Most of the historic buildings have been either destroyed or renovated to the point where they do not look like old buildings at all.

China has built a vast railway network. You can get anywhere within hours by bullet train.

A pleasant sight in the village Yangzhou next to Guilin. Around Guilin are the karst mountains which can be found in every China travel guide.

Landing approach in Shenzhen. This is where most electronics is shipped from.

This picture has been taken in the Hong Kong Soho district. The buildings are built so close each other that they become one entity.

When the urban life of Hong Kong becomes too tiring, you can take a ferry and go to Lamma island within 20 minutes.

Big cities show their true face during the night.

In China the social security are your children once you become old. If you do not have their support nobody will support you.

Hong Kong

The last 4 days I’ve spent in the absolutely astonishing city Hong Kong. So far the most crowded place I’ve seen. Skyscrapers that look like toothpicks stand so close to each other that you sometimes can’t remember being in a city, it rather feels like being in a canyon. However getting around is still pretty easy, the MTR is convenient and some buses are even free to use. Without public transport this city wouldn’t work.

Where the city forests meets the green forests. A clash between nature and humanity.

In Hong Kong there are more rules than in any other cities. Don't do that, don't do this. And as you can see the punishments are really scary.

Go up to the Hong Kong Peak, head on a small road to the left and you will find the most beautiful view. Obviously also worth doing by night.

Every cool city has a metro, so does Hong Kong.

Fishs in plastic bags and other animals are available at different markets and shops in the Mong Kok district.

You don't have to go far from Hong Kong to find a relaxing place. In Lamma island are no cars, so its a good place to get off the busy city business.

I don't know why I like this picture so much. The colors? The shadow? The people following their business? I really don't know.

Cookies seem to be a serious business in Hong Kong. And no, these are not the cookies with the special addition.

Each backflip is getting more difficult since I'm not training Parkour that often anymore. This place is a Wing Chun school, their teacher has been trained by no one less than the great grandmaster Ip Man. For those who don't know Wing Chun, it's the type of martial art that Bruce Lee performed.

The bird garden is definitly a place you have to see when visiting Hong Kong.

Hong Kong is the most crowded city in the world.

One piece of meat fell down, someone picked it up and put it back to the staple. It's recommanded to boil or grill these meats very well.
