Node.js dynamic settings

As I’m relatively new to Node I had to wrap my head around a very basic thing. Getting external variables into my app. Loading settings for different environments from config files and via environment variables (for heroku deployment) should supposedly be an easy challenge. However, none of the solutions I’ve found were well enough for my scenario:

  • Store config in json file.
  • Have different configuration files (development, production, …).
  • Load configs from environment variables.
  • Fallback from environment to config file.
  • App lives in one folder.

Manage your SharePoint default settings with PowerShell

This post is part of my PowerShell PowerUp project.

The only way to deploy SharePoint default settings for site collections and sites manually is using predefined site templates or an ugly third party tool.
And in case you’ll do that with site templates it’ll cost a lot of the time to update settings which were already set.

However with PowerShell it’s possible to deploy SharePoint default settings automatically and it’s a lot easier than you might think.

manage SharePoint list alerts for multiple users on multiple lists

In certain cases SharePoint alerts are more useful than workflows, f.e. having the possibility to let users manager their alerts is not possible with workflows.

To manager alerts for a couple of users on specific lists I’ve written a script that handles the whole cycle of alerts. It let me delete, update and create alerts based on predefined configuration.
