During the extended easter weekend I did a short trip with friends to the Provence. Despite the place is quite close to Switzerland the landscape is fairly different and unfamiliar. We lent a VW camper, drove through national parks and enjoyed the local food. Althought we only went there for four days we got mesmerized by the artistic villages and excellent vine 😉.

A Glimpse of China

I visited China from the beginning of last december until christmas. My backpack was filled with prejudice and the expectation of having a hard time travelling there. The reality looked quite different. China was a blast! Vibrant, lively, fascinating, contradictory and quite the opposite from the european life style. Swallowed in Beijing and spit out in Hong Kong I enjoyed China all over. Definitely not the last I have been there. Again my favorite pictures:

Impressions of the Turnerabend 2017

My local sports club STV Kerns organized and performed a cinema themed gymnastic show Turnerabend. Together with other sports clubs we’ve put together a program and presented during two evenings and one after noon. During the event I was in charge of technical aspects and making photos of the show. Here are some of my favorites.

Education will never be cheaper while you study (at least in switzerland). This is why I took a photography course at my university (and also to earn cheap credits). The course was mostly about art and history, but nonetheless very interesting. Below, you’ll find my favorite photos.

California and Costa Rica

During the last seven weeks I’ve spent a lot of time in California. With my study class we worked on projects with local companies in the Silicon Valley. It was a great experience. For the weekends I had decided to visit Yosemite and the beautiful lake Tahoe again. Despite the Californian drought I had some good hikes there. Before leaving for home I took a flight to Costa Rica and spent a week there. Seeing the caribbean coast not on a post card was a very nice thing. Now here are some pictures you might like:

This winter I had the chance to visit the warm city of Lisbon. Settled in the south of Portugal it attracts thousands of tourists every year with its historic buildings and narrow streets.

Dust and Dirt

Abandoned places have a special attraction to me. There are not many places where you literally can experience the past. Thinking of past times is always difficult, most of the times you’ll end up thinking of black and white pictures you’ve seen somewhere before, would you agree? By visiting abandoned places you always get a small piece of past times. The more often you’ll visit such places the more that picute of the past changes in you head.

With some friends I’ve seen a couple of these dirty und dusty places and made tons of photos. I want to show you my favorites.

15 bucks, a golf club and a camera. This was the recent photography project of my friends. With a simple setup, we tried to get the perfect shot of a golf club hitting pottery. It was a lot of fun and in the end a big mess. Here are some of the results, every picture contains the original and the destroyed object:

Yesterday I left Thailand and went to Penang in Malaysia. I wished I had more time to stay there, it’s such a beautiful country, the food is incredible and the people are so nice. But what I miss most are definitely the scooter rides. In Thailand you don’t need a license to drive a scooter, a helmet is recommended. During my last ride I tried to create a hyper lapse with my GoPro camera, I’m not really happy with the result, but it’s all I’ve got:

Back in Bangkok I had to say goodbye to my travel friends from Chiang Mai, first I was a bit anxious about me not being able to meet new people. However I didn’t expect that’s actually so easy, there are so many travellers down south with almost the same plan as me. And when you’re travelling alone it’s even more easy to meet new people as you don’t stay in a isolated group.

In my last tumblr session I came along a post about Barry Underwood’s pictures. He’s a photographer with a talent for amazing light painted photos.

The pictures you’re seeing haven’t been edited in Photoshop or any other software. Barry Underwood took this photographs with a long exposure camera installation and a bunch of lights.

Adobe Lightroom switch from jpeg raw workflow to single raw

I don’t know since when I started to make photos in jpeg and raw. Also don’t know the reasons for doing that any more.

I’ve made the decision to change my photography workflow from whatever to: take a photo in raw > import it to Adobe Lightroom > processing in Lr > export to specified format > publish for a project.

Last week I decided to drop all jpegs when there’s also a raw file in Adobe Lightroom.
